Vegas 2014, October ==================================  General The Luxor does not have wi-fi in the rooms.  REALLY?! How do you turn a 5 star hotel into a 1 start.  In the year 2014 have wired Internet to the rooms only.  Then have the nerve to charge you a $22 "resort fee" that yes includes "Internet".  You can bet there is no listing of this on their website.  If I would have known in advance I could have setup a mobile hot spot or maybe found some kind of adapter for the iPad.  Nope. Morning insult, No Coffee Maker in the room. I'm testing my new logitech Ipad bluetooth keyboard this trip.  So far it seems to be working without issue.  it was my fault that I purchased it not knowing it was for the smaller ipad air so I can't use it as a cover, I can still use it as a keyboard. much easier to use than the screen  Lots of places have happy hour drink specials between 4-6 On the other hand, Every special you see has so much fine print that its pretty much bait and switch. Bus system change. $8 for one day, or $20 for 3 days.  There is an 'express' and a 'deuce'.  The express does not stop everywhere.  it takes a detour to the convention center and so bypass many of the strip  hotels.  The signs and maps are horrible.  The only info after you are on the bus is a digital sign that says the next 3 stops, nothing else.  Buses seem to come less often than before and have been crowded every time.  One of the buses just passed us without stopping.  We tried getting on the deuce to get back to the Luxor and were told by the bus driver to take the express.  The express does not stop at the Luxor we found out the hard way. Freemont street is the place to be at night. Sensory overload and people watching extreme.  Defiantly not for kids. ---------------------------------  Game prices Luxor $10 Min Blackjack and Craps $3 Virtual Blackjack $24 for one Manhattan and one white Russian $11 one shot of Whiskey neat $7 for a hot dog foot long Circus Circus One $3 Blackjack, multiple $5 Blackjack, and $5 craps Slots of fun Slots only. $1 Virtual Blackjack Riviera $1 Blackjack, multiple tables, promotional for 24/7 $1 blackjack $5 Craps $2 Well drink highballs, $3 Call drinks, $1 PBR The bar will serve you the same drinks you would get while gambling for cheap Excalibur $5 Tables, Craps and Blackjack Virtual Craps, Virtual Roulette, Virtual Blackjack Good Gambling prices $5 Hot dog and a miller lite.  Best special I've seen all week Harahs $5 tables, Craps and Blackjack. Drink prices were Var with some specials Good Place Cosmo At night it seemed the min was $15 But at night they have Go Go Dancers at the Bar and tables. Planet Hollywood They have some attractive dressed up dealers but they seemed to be at the expensive tables. They have Go Go dancers at the bar and some around the tables. ========================================================================================  Wed 20 Flight out Southwest direct.  Good Flight.  SW has upgraded their planes with wi-fi and they have about 10 free tv channels and some movies you can rent for $5 each.  The system seemed to work very well. Instead of a taxi we took one of the 3 shuttles from the airport.  Their are at least 3 companies that provide a shuttle and they average $9 a person per way.  A taxi is $20-25 so it's not that much of a savings, but i thought the shuttle was more comfortable and since its a flat charge there is no worry about the taxi taking "The long way".  Also the line for taxis at the airport was very long.  It took about 20 min of waiting for the shuttle to come by. Rooms at the Luxor do not have wi-fi in the room.  There is an internet cable on one of the desks that would work if you had a pc or some kind of connector.  We don't not happy.  I asked the front desk if it was just rooms in the pyramid that didn't have wi-fi and was told that rooms in the tower did not either other than some random ones that were close enough to the conference center to get on. Dinner at the Circus Circus Steakhouse.  Excellent.  We went between 4-6 to get the half off drink special. 4 glasses of wine, one steak to share, and a $16 share fee for extra sides was $100.  Not bad for a very fancy dinner out Walked across the street to the Riviera. $1 24/7 Blackjack. They had 4 tables but all were full. They also had $2 highballs at the bar. Great deals. Annoyance at the Luxor tram.  There was a message playing over the tram that to get to the Luxor from the Excalibur you had to first go all the way to the Manday bay, then take the tram back. No one knows why they are not running both trams to all 4 stops. On the plus side the room at the Luxor is nice, themed, and clean.  We're on the 26 floor and have a great view of Red Rock area. ============================= Thur 23 Excalibur, Paris Paris, Stratosphere, Harrahs and ?, Bellagio Back to Luxor change and see Jill at the Cosmo Bellagio and Planet Hollywood Excalibur has much better gambling prices than the Luxor or NY Paris Paris for Lunch was incredible and had a great view but its expensive $174 with tip 3 course meal with 3 wine paring, 2 coffees ($146, plus $27 tip) 3:00pm Sky jump from the stratosphere Fun but not worth the $120 a person. Less of a jump than a cable assisted fast descend $15 a person for a ride on the big shot. Best ride in Vegas Drinks at the bar in Strat, OK but kind of expensive $12 martines Harrahs Drink Deal 1 import beer and 1 shot $11 Played Craps and Roulette The Cosmopolitan was interesting and extremely different.  Very chic with atractive waitress and some Go Go Dancers on the tables in the Bar. Expensive The Fountains at the Bellagio are still the best free show in Vegas Planet Hollywood.  Sexier.  Dressed up dealers, but I didn't see any $5 tables.  Bar in the center had Go Go dancers. Back to room around 1am ============================= Friday Meet with Jill and see the sites take out from Nathans coffee and donut for breakfast Excalibur for gambling, very busy and higher limits not that its Friday Waited to long for Jill to eat Jill's room at the Excalibur is kinda a dive Milos at The Cosmopolitan took the bus to the Cosmo and ate at Milos, $92 (82 + 15 tip) I didn't like it but Louise and Jill liked it. Walked from the Cosmo North for general site seeing. Harrahs, Numb Bar for the $11 bottle beer and a shot special Harrahs is still good prices on the weekends. Walked next door to the Casino Royal.  $1 dollar miller light in a bottle.  Best deal on the strip. Venetian Sight seeing.  Wonder full looking casino.  Good happy hour Sp 4-6 for a $8 Martini and got an excellent Manhattan.  They also have the "bourbon street" bar that i would have liked to check out with themed crazy rocker waitress.  But the drinks were $8-9 for a beer and $11 for a shot of Jack. Fremont Street at Night Dinner at the Pizza Rock adjacent to Freemont Street.  Excellent 5/5.  Good Italian food at Raleigh prices.  Giant 2 person Stromboli and 2 beers for $26.  Saw the Light show.  Good but the new zip line ride is a heavy distraction and I can't believe they added it.  Definitely a downgrade. In general Freemont street on the weekend is the best.  Crazy street performers everywhere. And Go Go Dancers on tables outdoor, and women dressed up in only body paint that you can take your picture with. ============================= Saturday Leave room at 10:30am Looked at Tropicana, MGM, Paris and all were expensive to gamble and drink.  It seems that one company MGM owns most of the casinos on the strip.  So they have the same specials, and prices. The remodel of the Tropicana was an all white theme.  They were even more expensive than the MGM properties with mostly $15 tables. Walked to the Hooters Casino.  The prices were good but the gambling area was run down there were no open tables.  They were the only place in the south we saw $3 blackjack. Ended up gambling at the Madelay Bay.  $10 tables but the nicest property we saw. They did have $5 bottle beer, and an $11 shot of Gent Jack that was a bargain. Dinner across from Harrahs at the Hash House. No crowds no waiting. Dinner was excellent. Definitely needed to split the meal. Show at 8pm at absinth show at Cesar's Place About $110 per person for the tickets Show was good.  All of the acrobats were great, but the MC was trying to be 'edgy' and raunchy was just loud and crude. Most expensive beer ever at $8.50 a bottle Ended the night going back to the Mandaly bay for a drink.  Expensive but they had a bar with live music ============================= Sun Taxi and ride to airport was easy.  Wake up at 645, out the door at 7:15. Through security at the airport at 8:00. Southwest flight back was a full plane.  Newer with the internet so no issues.
