Think paint by numbers meets a scratch off card. Each 8.5"x11" packet comes with a preprinted design on a scratch off board that has a foil under layer. Follow the lines to scratch off the design and the bright foil layer underneath is visible as a vibrant image.
I found these 5-7 years ago and bought them for a holiday trip expecting to use them as an activity with the nieces and nephews but it never panned out.

I found it difficult to get the precision required for a really good result. I'm unsure if I was just rushing or needed some glasses with a better zoom. I watched a few people on YouTube later, and the only ones that really seemed to have a nice final product were people with art channels and with incredible attention to fine detail. I did a lot of searches on Google and found almost no examples of finished work, so I'm thinking my experience is more common than not. I would like to give it another shot, but if I do I'll be staying away from any images with fur.

I hadn't seen this before, and to be fair, I haven't finished my fish yet due to wanting to take a lot of time and do it rightly, but it's pretty fun, considering it requires patience and a steady hand, things I lack. Luckily, I'm not needing to compete with my super artistic friends, or get it done on a timeline, so it's just a nice way to pass the time, scribbling a metal tip on a piece of paper.
