Ok, This is the highlight of trip no doubt. About the only way you can view these glaciers is from a cruise ship. There are no roads and they are about in the most middle of nowhere you can think of. This is the reason that for an Alaskan cruise I recommend the extra money for a room with a balcony. The Cruise ship route takes you down a Fjord (a river) for an up close look at four glaciers in particular but the entire trip is one large scenic viewing. At two of the glaciers the boat will stop for 30 mins and turn the boat such that one side will have a straight on view of the glacier, then turn the boat 180 degrees for the other side to have a look. Its hard to beat having your very own private balcony to view from.
Most of the pictures in this section speak for themselves, but here are some things to look for. For perspective the Glaciers are about 150-180’ feet in height. The widths vary from 3/4 to 2 miles wide, and they extend up to 25 miles back.
