Blue Ridge Parkway July 2009
Sight Seeing and a little hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, North of Asheville NC.
Just a quick weekend trip. Take a 1/2 day on Friday and be in Asheville at the Grove Park Inn by 5pm. A couple hours in the Spa and enjoy the view before dinner. Just check for specials as the rates are rather high without a discount. Wander around the hotel and grounds after dark and Enjoy. Next Day jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway and head north. Stop at all of the overlooks and take in the view. The Craggy Gardens Area has two very good hikes so plan some extra time. Both are short, but the views are great. Afterwards keep heading North and Stop at Mt Mitchell State Park and take the very short hike to the top. Afterwards get back on the parkway heading North, stop at any overlooks that take your fancy and end up in Little Switzerland. Get a room with a deck and a view, grab a bottle of wine and call it a day well spent.
