Hot Springs, North Carolina    8-13-2002
A fun trip to the mountians with the Leonards, the Strichmans, and an Elaine. We stayed at the
Mountain Magnolia Inn
which is nice place with a great view. We tried the 'springs' at hot springs and how about I say "just say no".
Louise and I went for a hike along the river and took a wrong turn which turned the hike into an adventure.
Hot Springs
The Hike
Are you sure this is the correct path?
This started out as a simple leisurely hike while we were in the town of Hot Springs,
North Carolina. We had gotten a trail map, and were intending to hike the "lover's leap"
trail. The trail map had listed the trail as "advanced" so when the trail got difficult
we kept joking about how they really meant it when they say advanced around here. Of
course what really happened, was that we were "WAY" off the trail. Everyone we know will
be forced to listen to this story, so you might as well view the pictures. This is one
of my few stories that doesn't require exaggeration.
10. The view from the bridge over the French Broad River
11. This is the top of the path to Lovers Leap
12-13. Louise isn't particularly afraid of heights
14. In retrospect, this is where the path should have ended
15. On the trail to the overlook
16. Up, Up, and Up
17. At this point, we still figured it was easier to go up than back down. We were wrong
18. This is the path. Standing on the path you could hold out your arms and drop rocks off either side of the mountain
