Who wants to hear about a trip if it's to expensive to go yourself? I've always hated travel shows that show you an incredible location and never mention the price, or the price mentioned doesn't include taxes or fees which can be up to 25% in some areas. Or worst of all is when you check the price for yourself you find that prices are ridiculous and only for the super rich. The prices below are after all taxes.
The cost of this trip is pretty much the cost of the beach house.

I consider this to be an excellent price for what I got. When I did my research the week before I looked at all of the beaches in NC and found 27 properties available for between $1,200 - $3,330 after tax and fees that fit my criteria of having a great view.
Be aware that you really have to watch out for taxes and fees as most sites really hide this and they inflate the price substantially. I'm sure that many of the good prices I found were due to going before Memorial Day, but I was unable to determine by how much because almost everything was sold out after Memorial Day. Something annoying about all of these sites is that you can't see the rate for a week that is already reserved and they don't take reservations farther than 6 months out.

While searching I noticed that many rental units are only listed on a single site and that this site is rarely a big vacation rental site like Airbnb, Vrbo, Expedia, etc. I found many more units on the Local Real Estate Companies websites. Flipkey seemed to be the only exception because while it's not a place to actually rent from, it was a good site for finding rental companies.
